City of Brno by population and area is the second largest city in the Czech Republic, the largest Moravian city , and the historical capital city of the Margraviate of Moravia. The most important sights of the city include the castle and fortress Špilberk and the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul on Petrov hill, two formerly medieval buildings that form the characteristic cityscape and are often depicted as its traditional symbols.

The Cairn of Peace Memorial (Památník Mohyla míru)
The memorial was built to honour the victims of Napoleon’s victorious battle near Austerlitz ("Slavkov" in Czech) fought on 2 December 1805. The pyramidal Memorial on the Prace Hill was built in 1910-1912. It contains a museum with an exposition dedicated to the memorable battle.
