Straznice, Czech Republic, International Folklor Festival
Straznice ranks as one of the oldest and most significant folklore festivals in the the Czech Republic. Every last weekend in June thousands of visitors stream into Straznice to enjoy the spellbinding atmosphere of the town, the chateau park, and the open-air museum of folk architecture.
At its beginning in 1946 the festival had initially a character of nation-wide festivities. It gradually started to represent folklore not only in its natural manifestations, but also in various arrangements and stylizations.
